What Is an Email QR Code?
An email QR code encodes a mailto: link that opens the user's default email application with pre-filled fields. When scanned, the user sees a compose window with the recipient address, subject line, and body text already entered. They just need to hit Send.
This removes friction from email-based workflows like feedback collection, support requests, RSVP confirmations, and contact inquiries. Instead of asking users to copy an email address and compose from scratch, one scan gets them 90% of the way there.
How to Create an Email QR Code
1. Select "Email QR" from the generator. 2. Enter the recipient email address. 3. Add a subject line (optional but recommended). 4. Add body text (optional). 5. Click Generate. 6. Download and share.
The generated QR encodes a standard mailto: URI that is universally supported across email clients on all platforms.
Use Cases
Feedback cards: Print QR codes on feedback cards in hotels, restaurants, or clinics. The subject is pre-filled with "Feedback" and the body prompts the user with a template.
Support contact: Place on product packaging so customers can email support with the product name pre-filled in the subject.
Event RSVP: Embed on invitations with subject "RSVP" and body "I will attend [event name]."
Business cards: Alongside your phone QR, add an email QR for people who prefer written communication.
Receipts: After purchase, print a QR that lets customers email for warranty claims with the order number pre-filled.
Best Practices
Keep the body short: Pre-fill just enough to give context. Long bodies may be truncated on some email clients.
Use a professional recipient address: support@yourdomain.com looks better than a personal Gmail address.
Test across clients: Verify the QR opens correctly in Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, and the default Android mail app.
Combine with UTM in body: Include a reference link in the pre-filled body so you can trace which physical placement generated the email.
Download and share
Export your email QR in PNG, SVG, PDF, JPEG, or WebP. Print it on flyers, posters, or packaging so people can open a pre-filled message in one scan.
